Coffee Cooperative Form
Together with the Organizational Studies 490 Advanced Research Team, we traveled to Costa Rica to meet with ICAFE and learn about the coffee production process. We then combined our infield and academic research to create a final report and presentation. Our project focused on the comparison of cooperative and micro mill structures analyzing with which conditions each structure is more beneficial and strategies ICAFE can implement to support farmers interested in using the micro mill structure.
"Coffee farmers who use micro mills rather than selling to cooperatives may be able to increased profits; however, they face high investment costs and must learn more about the coffee chain through vertical integration."
